Session Etiquettes and Preparation

Once you have initiated conversations with the client regarding particular massage therapy, you should first consider the precautions and contraindications of the therapy. In relation to that, there are some session etiquettes and preparation that the therapist should follow.

Preparations for the massage location:

  • Creating a clean and quiet atmosphere/environment
  • Clean ventilation and calm temperature for the client
  • Spacious and not tight to avoid claustrophobia and discomfort
  • Clean materials like mattresses, towels, and pillows
  • Slow and appropriate music to soothe the environment

Massage Therapists should follow these:

  • Converse with the client on the goal of the Thai Massage session using the hands and elbows
  • Not have a fever, be intoxicated, or have an infectious and contagious disease
  • No eating or using the phone by being focused on the client
  • Take off worn jewelry and ornaments
  • Keep a clean hygienic environment before, during, and after the session
  • Do not touch any intimate areas of the client
  • Calm the client by using comforting words

All clients should follow these:
